Our Story

We didn't set out to build software. We set out to stop forgetting people.

Morning Star AI Group started as one advisor's answer to a problem no one else was solving — not as a pitch deck, not as a startup idea, but as a tool built out of necessity, tested on real clients, before it was ever meant to be sold to anyone.

How We Got Here

The short version: a technologist became an advisor, and couldn't unsee what technology was doing to trust.

Act One

Two decades building AI inside the biggest technology companies in the world

Before any of this, there was a career spent inside enterprise technology and AI product leadership at Microsoft, Cisco, Splunk, and Accenture — learning, from the inside, exactly how AI systems get built, and exactly how often "efficient" and "trustworthy" quietly pull in opposite directions.

Act Two

A second career, chosen on purpose: real estate advisor

Becoming a licensed advisor with Engel & Völkers wasn't a pivot away from technology — it was a chance to sit on the other side of it. To be the person a client trusts with the biggest financial decision of their life, and to feel, firsthand, exactly where automation helps and exactly where it quietly erodes confidence.

Act Three

Cadence was built to solve one advisor's problem — before it was ever a product

Every client detail, every showing, every follow-up, held in one place instead of scattered across notebooks and memory. It wasn't designed in a boardroom. It was designed at a kitchen table, refined against real clients, because the alternative was letting people fall through the cracks.

Act Four

Building a home taught the same lesson from the other side of the table

Designing and building a custom home at Tumble Creek meant living inside the builder-client relationship as the client — feeling exactly where communication breaks down, where trust gets tested, and where a homeowner is often left guessing. Bearing exists because that gap shouldn't exist.

"
AI shouldn't be the thing that makes your clients feel like a number. It should be the reason they never feel like one — because nothing about their situation ever gets forgotten, dropped, or rushed.
— The founding thesis behind everything we build
Where We Are Today

Two products, built the same way — for ourselves, first.

Cadence

Running daily inside a working Engel & Völkers practice — client profiles, listing checklists, communication history, and buyer & seller portals, all in one place.

Bearing

Running on active jobsites — Quick Log, a Client Trust Center, predictive risk flagging, and RFIs and change orders tracked end to end.

A Note, Directly

I didn't start Morning Star AI Group because I thought AI was going to change real estate or construction. I started it because I kept watching AI get built by people who'd never had to sit across from a client and explain why something got missed.

I've been on both sides of that table — twenty years building enterprise technology, and now years spent as the advisor a family trusts with their biggest purchase, and as the homeowner trusting someone else to build my own. Both of those experiences taught me the same thing: trust isn't a feature. It's the whole business. Any AI system that doesn't protect it isn't worth building.

That's the only standard anything here has to meet. Not "does it save time." Does it make the person on the other end feel more taken care of, not less. If you're building a client-facing business and that standard matters to you too, I'd like to talk.
